Leachates from operational and inactive waste disposal sites have the potential to adversely affect the groundwater and surface waters surrounding such facilities. Routine monitoring of leachate, groundwater, surface water and gases provides useful information and assurance that there are minimal impacts to public health and the environment from the site.
